Yorkshire’s very first pasta is all thanks to the Bumby family who recently crafted their range in Yorkshire’s food capital – the beautiful North Yorkshire market town of Malton.
Young foodie couple Kathryn and Thomas hit on the idea of making a premium British pasta whilst walking in the Lake District and farmer’s daughter Kathryn used her product development skills honed at Nestlé to devise a recipe.
The couple spent months studying the high quality pasta producers of Italy; learning, practising and refining their traditional methods to work with locally milled wheat flour instead of imported durum wheat semolina. The Bumbys have taken pasta back to basics, with no compromise on flavour, making pasta slowly and authentically; this is essential for enhancing the flavour of the grain and the pasta’s ability to absorb sauces.
Yorkshire Pasta was launched in 2019 in eye-catching, innovative and 100% recyclable paper bags and has already got an army of fans including the Hearty’s team and renowned Yorkshire chef, James Martin who cooked with it on his Saturday Morning TV programme.
